मुंगेर/पटना : बिहार के मुंगेर जिले के प्रसिद्ध मां चंडिका मंदिर में मां सती के एक नेत्र की पूजा की जाती है और श्रद्धालुओं को नेत्र संबंधी विकार से मुक्ति मिलती है। मुंगेर जिला मुख्यालय से लगभग दो किलोमीटर पूरब गंगा किनारे पहाड़ी गुफा में अवस्थित मां चंडिका का मंदिर लाखों भक्तों के लिए ‘आस्था’ का केन्द्र बना हुआ है। मान्यता है कि इस स्थल पर माता सती की बाईं आंख गिरी थी। यहां आंखों के असाध्य रोग से पीड़ित लोग पूजा करने आते हैं और यहां से काजल लेकर जाते हैं। लोग मानते हैं कि यह काजल नेत्ररोगियों के विकार दूर करता है।

पौराणिक मान्यता के अनुसार, भगवान शंकर जब अपनी पत्नी सती के मृत शरीर को लेकर तीनों लोकों में घूम रहे थे तब संपूर्ण सृष्टि भयाकूल हो गयी थीं तभी देवताओं के अनुरोध पर भगवान विष्णु ने सुदर्शन चक्र से सती के शरीर को खंडित किया था। जहां-जहां सती के शरीर का खंड गिरा उसे शक्तिपीठ माना गया। मुंगेर का चंडिका मंदिर भी शक्तिपीठ के रूप में शामिल है।
नेत्र रोग से पीड़ित भक्तगण चंडिका मंदिर में नेत्र-रोग से मुक्ति की आशा लेकर आते हैं। सामाजिक मान्यता है कि कोई भी भक्त निराश नहीं लौटता है। संतान की चाहत और जीवन की अन्य इच्छाओं की पूर्ति के लिए भक्त राज्य के कोने-कोने से इस मंदिर में पहुंचते हैं। ऐसी मान्यता है कि इस मंदिर के काजल से हर प्रकार के नेत्रविकार दूर होते हैं। दूर-दूर से पीड़ित भक्तजल यहां मंदिर का काजल लेने पहुंचते हैं।
